Abstract:
The objective of this paper is to revise the chronocultural classification of the archaeological site of Dioron Boumak (Saloum Delta) based on the ceramic material culture and the dates, in BP age, in particular, collected in stratigraphy. The calibration, considering the reservoir effect, within the framework of this study, allows for the correction of the chronocultural classification established, but also confirms the protohistoric belonging, for the most part, of the samples collected in the Saloum Delta sites. For the question of the homogeneity of its occupation and its duration is a major issue in archaeological research. For this reason, this article studies the dynamics of the first human occupations in the region on the basis of dates obtained in stratigraphic context. The calibration of the dates collected is related to taphonomic and geomorphological data in order to determine
the periods of occupation and hiatus of Dioron Boumak.
Keywords: Chronological dating, calibration, ceramics, human settlement, Dioron Boumak.
